For those who have not seen, a Farnborough North End stalwart was presented with an award for his long services to football.  John Marchment, former Secretary (amongst other jobs!!!), can be seen receiving his award from the Wessex League for Services to Football. Farnborough North End will always be grateful for services over the years and continued support to date, but are pleased that his endeavours have been recognised outside of the club.

Well done John from the committee and all of the playing staff at FNE FC.

If anyone is interested, take a look at the Wessex League website (http://www.wessexleague.co.uk/) where John can be seen receiving his reward from league representative Ian Craig.

Farnborough north end 5 Shaftsbury 1

Sealed with a Kiss

North Ends first league win in months was sealed with a blown kiss by the young Shaftesbury winger who took a fancy to our own Pretty Boy Andy Newcombe.  The referee wasn’t going to have any of that sort of thing going on, on a football field and booked the winger and Newcombe for persistent flirting………I mean flaunting of the rules of the game.  Then in the dying seconds the young Shaftesbury winger just couldn’t contain himself any longer and decided to take Newcombe out !!!!  It was no date as Newcombe was felled to the ground.  The referee had no option other than to give the offending player a red card, but it wasn’t a Valentine.

After a great workmanlike win over Alton during the week it was hoped by Manager Brooks that North End would carry on were they left off.  Playing a very high tempo game but it was Shaftesbury who seemed more up for the fight and it was they who took the lead on 20 minutes after Millie and Duffers went for the same ball.  From the confusion the Shaftesbury winger crossed the ball for his colleague to tap into the North End goal. It didn’t take long for North End to equalize and on 23 minutes the ever improving Bonny Boniface crashed the ball into the top right hand corner of the goal. North End started to take control and on 35 minutes Bonny took a corner from the left and Standage headed home from 6 yards out.  On 43 minutes it looked as if the game was over when Grant Stevens slid the perfect pass through to Aaron King who slotted the ball hone with ease to make the half time score 1-3 to North End.  The start of the second half saw the game completely open up with both sides creating chances the best of these being when a Shaftesbury forward broke through one to one with reserve keeper Mark Tottle who made a fantastic save.  In fact Tottle had a good game making a couple of tremendous saves.
